Mark Verlander is an artist from New Orleans. Born and
raised in a culturally rich city, he likes to stretch
his art across many different boarders. He often uses
exaggerated color rather than subject matter to
emphasize emotion. This is because he believes color
will reach and affect more people than a particular
subject.
The art of the impressionists has always been a major
influence on his work. Monet, Van Gogh and Seurat are
some of the more notable impressionists that have
influenced his artistic desires, as well as the
surrealism of Dali and the dramatic stillness and
crisp renderings of Caravaggio.
Mark wants to touch the emotions of those who view his
work with something that speaks from the soul, and to
remind everyone, as Einstein said, "imagination is
more important than knowledge."
