I try to allow myself to expand in every direction when it comes to painting. My work is bright and vivid. It is thick and textured with twisting shapes and constant color change. My work is completely open and yet leaves you questioning just what it is you are seeing. Being quiet and conservative in nature I like to think my art work is a way of expressing my outrageous ideas and bizarre visions. I enjoy taking what I see in the real world and manipulating it within my own mental realm. What one person may find terrifying another may find irresistible and how we view this world will always determine who we are in it. The subject of my work is constantly changing from piece to piece.
One day I am working on a series depicting the beauty and terror of natural disaster and human disease like I did in the eight part series "The Ugly and Beautiful World" and the next I'm expressing my fear and frustration brought on by living in a dangerous city with "Monster in the Street". During these politically trying times I have also tried to express my opinion on my country and government with "Nations Turmoil" which expresses my fear of the direction in which our nation may be heading. On a more basic level I mostly enjoy painting non objective imagery that allows to viewer to create their own image and opinion of what they see. What one person sees as beautiful another may find disturbing and its fun to hear how different each opinion is. I hope that with all my artwork I bring out the true feelings of those who view it no matter what those feeling might be.
