My art reflects my admiration of the surrounding world.
In my pastel works you can see how fascinated I am with the beauty of the human body. Even the most perfect person will find imaginary flaws in their body. Yet I truly believe that you can find beauty in everybody, and that those flaws reveal the most charming characteristics we possess. The human body evokes a range of responses in us, from awe to disgust. I hope I was able to render some of the feelings, moods, and states that I experienced while creating these pastels: joy, sadness, admiration, fatigue, anticipation.
My oil works are sort of a personal diary focusing on my own experiences. While this creates very personal art that tends to ignore the wider world around me, I believe that the emotions expressed are universal enough to appeal to everyone.
Through school and work I've been fortunate t travel widely, visiting a multitude of museums along the way and educating myself in art history. Finding a balance between my art and my career has it's drawbacks though. Since I cannot spend all my time on my art I've neglected to develop the business side of it. Joining the Atlanta Contemporary's Artist Survival Group has made me realize how far behind I am, and which steps I should take to get to a more professional level. This is still a work in progress.
